Ji-Hye Jean, MA, LMHC
I am Korean-American, grew up in Hawaii and now call Spokane home, where I live with my husband and son. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington and Hawaii. I offer Telehealth appointments for those located in Hawaii.
I graduated from Gonzaga with my Master of Arts in Community Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Counseling in 2011. I became a Certified EFT Couples Counselor in 2018 and became a Certified EFT Supervisor in 2022.
I work with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, emotional regulation, racial trauma, betrayal trauma, grief and loss, feeling stuck in life, abandonment, low self-worth, and spiritual distress. I work with couples who were in low to high conflict/distress and struggling to connect with each other. I also work with couples who are just interested in enhancing their relationship or are interested in preventing possible future conflicts due to an upcoming major life change or transition.
I love working with individuals who struggle to understand who they are because they have lost a sense of who they are somewhere in their life journey. I love supporting individuals in discovering or rediscovering themselves and helping them make sense of what they may be feeling about the experiences in their life whether past, present, or future.
I love working with couples are are committed and devoted to each other and repairing their relationship no matter how disconnected it may feel in the moment. I particularly have a passion for working with interracial couples and supporting them through the potential added struggles that conversations about race and culture may bring into their special relationship.
I use Sue Johnson's highly researched EFT model of counseling, Brene Brown's research and materials on wholehearted living and shame resiliency, and Kristin Neff's research and materials on self-compassion as my main sources in my individual and couples counseling.

"A deep sense of love and belonging is an irreducible need of all men, women, and children. We are biologically, cognitively, physically, and spiritually wired to love, to be loved, and to belong.
When these needs are not met, we don’t function as we were meant to. We break. We fall apart. We grow numb. We ache. We hurt others. We get sick. There are certainly other causes of illness, numbness, and hurt, but the absence of love and belonging will always lead to suffering."
